Ganesha is one of the best-known and most widely worshiped deities in the Hindu pantheon. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and as the Lord of Beginnings.

This lantern is one of my favorites— the recycled elements came together just right to form very expressive features. The trunk is a found farm implement made of cast iron and the ears are C clamps. Ganesha’s crown is made from a transmission housing. The cuts for his eyes and tusks is indirectly inspired by mehndi designs and decorative carvings on temples as well as script letterforms from India.
